Overview

The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department was established in the year 2003. Four year B. Tech Degree programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering was offered with 60 seats affiliated to Kannur University. The programme is approved by AICTE, New Delhi. After the inception of Dr.APJ AbdulKalam Technological University of Kerala, in the year 2015, the ECE programme is affiliated to this university with an intake of 30 students. The Department of ECE has a team of committed faculty members who are well qualified and richly experienced in teaching. The Department has excellent infrastructural facilities to cater the needs for training present day engineering professionals. It aims to produce graduates who are part of high-tech, elite professionals with special skills both in technical and soft skills, with a solid foundation in attaining sound knowledge of Electronics and communication Engineering. The Department takes keen initiatives so that the students are able to attain excellence at par with the need of the hour in all spheres of Education, Research & Technology. The Department has built an excellent reputation for its graduates who have been placed in national and multinational firms and public limited companies. Right from its inception, the department has been able to provide high quality training in various fields of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Students are encouraged to acquire practical knowledge in the field of Electronics and build their own working projects and models. The Department actively contributes towards various activities every year by organizing Technical Seminars and Festivals, Quiz competitions, Workshops, Seminars and National Level Conferences.

Career prospects in Electronics and communication engineering

A graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering can apply for the post of engineer in the State Government, Central Government and the public sector undertakings. Central services like Indian Engineering Service (IES), Indian Telephone Industries, BSNL/ MTNL, Civil Aviation Department, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., HPCL / BPCL / IPCL, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Bharat Electronics Limited, Indian Railways, ISRO, DRDO and the Defense services offer exciting careers for Electronics and Communication Engineering graduates. In addition, private sector opportunities also exist in IT industry, Semiconductor industry, VLSI Design Industry, Software industry including MNCs, computer- related fields and the Telecom Sector including mobile computing, hardware and networking. Hard working engineering graduate can appear for Civil Services Examination to acquire IAS, IPS and IFS.
