Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and technology was established in the year 2003 .The Department of Civil Engineering came into existence with an undergraduate course in the year 2011.Civil engineering is considered to be one of the versatile branch of engineering. The department is committed in training their technocrats in design, construction and maintenance of physical and natural environment. The department aims to mould graduates who have acquired basic knowledge, problem solving skills and offer successful professional practice for the betterment of society. Highly experienced doctorates and postgraduates from prestigious institutions in Civil Engineering constitute the department. The department has well equipped state-of-the art laboratories in areas of Survey, Material Evaluation, Structural Engineering, Geo-technical, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) lab. The laboratories have been upgraded periodically to meet the requirements of the present curriculum. The department became full fledged and a post graduate course on Computer Aided Structural Engineering commenced in 2013. The faculty members initiate the students to take up research activities, thereby exposing the students to apply their engineering knowledge to technical hitches related to civil engineering experienced by society. The students are taken on field visits to gain practical experience from industries, water treatment plants and construction sites. A Department Library is functional to augment the students with text books and other resources. Workshops and conferences are conducted to expose the students to the recent trends in civil engineering.
